Best matcha icecream ever had!

The matcha and hojicha ice cream are just 300yen with a generous dash of tea powder. The texture of the ice cream which is more gelatinous rather than milky. Tea powder used is surprisingly of good quality (the sweeter version instead of the lower quality bitter type). I personally loved it because the ice cream they made is not overly sweet which destroys the natural flavour of the green tea. Definitely worth a try!

Delicious Matcha soft serve with matcha sifted on top of the soft serve. Only disappointing thing that spoiled the experience was that the owners got grumpy at us for sitting in the dining area when we were eating our ice cream. We had no idea that we weren't supposed to sit there. We were then relegated to a bench near the door like naughty school kids. I didnt see the difference- since it was nearly closing time, nobody would be coming in for lunch or tea and we were the only customers there. We were paying customers after all AND we had just purchased about Y5000 worth of premium matcha tea. If Seinfeld ever made a comeback, they could do an episode about the Matcha Nazi.

They were handing us matcha ice cream before we made it to the register—they knew what our bodies wanted before we did!

I got Matcha Afogado, Hojicha Afogado, and Matcha Matcha. Everything is delicious, satisfying with plenty of amount. Matcha soft cream is taken home, but it was very popular and I had a queue all the time. The next time I would like to have it by all means.

Exceptional Matcha Soft serve

The matcha ice cream is soooooooo good. We didnt try the hot matcha with sweet “dumpling” because we dont like those sweet dumplings.

In the teahouse in front of Byodo-in, we sell soft cream (matcha and hojicha: 300 yen each) and green tea at the storefront.Both soft tea and green tea are sprinkled with each tea leaf, but when it is very flavorful and it is put in the mouth, it will go up in the throat.There are some shops that are kept waiting if there is no other person in the store where there is only one machine (no match for the matcha people), but there is one more machine behind the store, which is different from the one for exclusive use of matcha. There seems to be, we were able to put out immediately.The people in the shop are also very nice, and I would like to stop by when I go to Uji again.
